WWI Fighting Knife by Eickhorn – D1066

This listing is for an excellent 1918 WWI fighting trench knife which was manufactured by the Carl Eickhorn edged weapon firm. This is a heavy hilt little knife that just feels fantastic when gripped in your hand. Both halves of the Bakelite grip panels are in very nice shape, tightly riveted to the spine, and void of any crack, chips, breaks, or missing material. The heavy nickel eagle head pommel as well as the crossguard, display average use and age to their surfaces. And truly exceptional for a 105 year old edged weapon.

The scabbard to this fighting knife while showing wear to the paint and quite a bit of crazing, still remains in decent condition. The shell is straight, void of any bends, creases, twists, or splits. Additionally, the original hanger is still in place and properly riveted to the reverse of the shell. It still retains the factory hold down cross strap as well.

A beautiful blade completes the description of this desirable Eickhorn WWI fighting knife. It is full length, straight, drawn to an extremely sharp tip, void of any sharpening scars, pitting, or cutting edge chips. There are a couple specks to the plated surface, which are minimal though magnified in the photos. This blade is super tight in the hilt and crossguard, and absent of any wiggling or looseness. On the reverse riccasso is the “back to back” stamped squirrel logo, a very early trademark of the Eickhorn edged weapon firm.

This is very nice early fighting knife, manufactured by the most noted famous edged weapon firm in Solingen.  $850.00
