Unissued RZM SA Dagger by Horster – D971

Several un-issued edged weapons were taken from factories and retail business’s at the end of hostilities after WWII. The SA in this offering appears to be one such dagger.

The oak handle to this Horster SA is in fine condition throughout, displaying little handling use what soever. The high contour wood is void of any splits, chips, cracks, or missing material. In the center of the obverse, a high neck zinc eagle has been set straight and a little bit raised to the surface. While the detail to the bird is excellent, the finish has absorbed some into the base metal. We see this same affect often with badges an awards manufactured during the war time period as many collectors know. At the top of the obverse an excellent nickel SA runes button shown  in as perfect condition as the day that it was placed in this handle. As for the hardware, these crossguards couldn’t be nicer! They are super smooth, and retain 99.999% of the original factory plating over their surfaces. You just don’t see this with war time production plated fittings, and this truly is the exception rather than the rule with any later manufactured edged weapons.

A beautiful scabbard accompanies this unissued Storm Trooper’s dagger. The shell is straight, void of any splits, dings, or bends. The dark chocolate brown factory paint is in exception condition and rates 99%. One spot on the reverse shows some scratches where this shell rubbed up against something at some point in time. Both upper and lower fittings are just the best, with the gorgeous plating exactly matching what is seen on the crossguards. Through the upper fitting loop is the original hanger that this scabbard came with. The leather is in complete, in fine condition, and is RZM stamped on the reverse.

As for the blade, it is a beautiful example. There is a few surface specs here and there from storage age, and that is about it. An absolutely killer black Alles fur Deutschland motto says it all! On the reverse is the RZM contract number for the E.F. Horster edged weapon firm; M7/36.

A beautiful SA that someone is going to enjoy in their collection.     SOLD
