Transitional Hitler Youth Knife by Halbach – D1088
Though used and worn by the youth who owned this knife during the 3rd Reich era as most are, this is still a solid example by a relatively rare manufacture of HJ’s. The grip plates are firmly riveted to the spine of this knife, are fit & trimmed with precision, and exhibit fine checking throughout. An exceptional HJ diamond is perfectly set within the center of the obverse plate, and remains void of any hits or enamel damage. As for the hilt plating it has held up decent, displaying the typical wear associated with these youth knives. A fine looking scabbard accompanies this HJ knife. The shell is in good shape, and void of any splits, bends, hits, or dings. At the top of the scabbard is a rather unique period leather hanger. It’s a little bit longer than we typically see on these scabbards, is made for a wider belt to be carried on, and with a textured grain that almost looks like ostrich skin. I’m not sure if the hanger is some type of period replacement or special requested alteration or not, though it looks cool ! Lastly the blade is full length, void of any major sharpening or cutting edge chips. The surface exhibits age and staining, though the Blut und Ehre motto is still lightly visible. On the reverse the blade is marked with the Halbach firm’s RZM code, and their Christmas tree logo. An uncommon maker for these HJ knives. $775.00
