Silver Tank Destruction Badge – M496

Offering an excellent example of one of these badges awarded for the single hand destruction of a tank or armored vehicle, by using an explosive charge or hand held weapon. Instituted initially in 1942, this is a silver version of what is termed Type 2 TDB in this offering. The base material is a 3 ½” inch of bullion mesh, which is flaked top and bottom with a strip of braded angled black thread. In the center is pinned an emblem representing a German Mark IV tank. This silver tank destruction badge is in very nice condition in regards to both the bullion, as well as the magnetic tank emblem. As shown, the badge is sewn on what appears to be on green wool material. It is undetermined whether this was for display purposes, or is actually uniform material. That aside and matters less, as it is neat example of a very heroic award won by a combatant on the field of battle. SOLD
