SA Dagger by Seilheimer – D830

When it gets to the more rare and scarce manufactures of the SA dagger, there usually isn’t a lot of choice to pull from. After all, these small cottage firms produced very small numbers of these daggers to begin with.  While not mint, this SA by the Paul Seiheimer is certainly in average condition, with a rarity rating that comes in at an 8 on the charts.

A decent grip starts this nickel silver M33 dagger out in good order. It is a medium brown variety, with attractive vertical stripes running the length of it on the reverse side. While it is void of any chips or flakes, there are some pressure marks that are shown below the eagle’s left wing. And speaking of the outstretched bird , it is in good condition, displaying excellent detail to the features of it. At the top of the obverse, a very nice SA runes button has been set straight and flush to the wood. All of the silvering to the letters and border are intact. Additionally, the light brown enamel is in near perfect condition. Finishing up the hilt, the nickel silver crossguards remain smooth, and have a decent fit to the handle.

The scabbard to this dagger is in good shape. It remains straight, void of any hits, bends, or creases. Though the finish has worn through the time it was carried by it’s owner, it still remains 85%. Both upper and lower fittings are secure to the shell, and held firmly in place. The throat is secure, and tightly in place.

The blade to this rare maker Seilheimer rates good. It is full length, void of any sharpening, tipping or cutting edge chips. In lieu of the fact that there is some surface age and oxidation, as collectors we’ve all certainly seen far worse. With a nice deep etch straight down the obverse, the Alles fur Deutschland slogan still retains excellent burnishing to each and every letter of the motto. On the reverse is the PS trademark that is not seen all that often associated with these early SA daggers.

All in all, not that bad of dagger, for an example in the more rare category for SA’s.   SOLD
