Reichsmarine Flag 50 x 85 – F177
This is an excellent size 3rd Reich battle flag to display with your collection. It is an early manufactured example prior to 1935, the year when the German navy had their organizational name changed from Reichsmarine to Kriegsmarine. At 35” x 18” (.50 x .85) it is the smallest size flag produced during the period, and intended for use on submarines, E-boats, and other small Nazi watercraft while docked in harbor. The course wool retains vivid colors throughout on both sides, and is proper reinforced in the corners. The material is in good shape for a flag that is nearly 90 years old, though does show several small hole imperfections here and there mainly due to age. The lanyard rope is intact, with the enclosure beautifully stamped with the eagle M, ReichsKriegs-Fl, and size. These 50 x 85 battle flags are rare enough to locate for collectors, and very desirable. But to find one of the early Reichmarine flags in this size is quite rare to say the least. SOLD
