Red Cross Officer’s Dagger – D1075

Offering an excellent example of a 3rd Reich edged weapon which was worn by an officer serving in the Red Cross during the infamous era. The light colored caramel grip is in fine condition, void of any cracks, splits, repairs, or missing material. The plating to the steel crossguard and pommel has held up nicely over the years, displaying a smooth finish, with a beautiful undisturbed finish over their surfaces. While there is just a tiny tick to the edge of the pommel, it is extremely minimal to say the least. The typical 6 sided star tang nut is flush to the surface and holds the entire hilt secure, tight and firm.

A beautiful scabbard accompanies this fine looking dagger. It is straight, void of any hits, splits, bends, or dings. The only imperfection is a very miniscule scrape on the lower edge, down from the hanger rings. A fantastic surface both fore and aft display a rich patina in the design recesses, exactly matching that of the hilt components. Both scabbard bands are securely in place, and remain straight as well as uniform to the corresponding inside edge of the shell. 2 dome head screws secure the throat.

An excellent blade finishes off this leader’s dagger. It is straight, full length, void of any sharpening, tipping, or cutting edge chips. There is one little minor speck of surface age near the riccasso on the obverse, which detracts little if at all. Typical for these blades, the riccasso is nickel plated, while the rest has a polished surface. The grain on this one was finished lengthwise, though others can be observed crosswise on different manufactures of these daggers as well. It’s interesting to note that the Holler edged weapon firm used this same technique when finishing their Heer blades. Who knows, this may be a clue as to the manufacture of this Red Cross officer’s dagger.

A fine looking 3rd Reich, Red Cross leader’s dagger. $1450.00
