Rare Maker SA Dagger by Grah – D964
Here is a rather rare maker from an obscure manufacture of the early Storm Troopers daggers, Ernst Grah. It comes in at a 9 on all of the charts, making it a rather uncommon SA.
The grip to this early nickel silver SA dagger is a sheer beauty. The smooth wood is in fantastic condition, void of any chips, cracks, splits, or missing material. It’s lighter color is laden with dark grain and lines giving it a most pleasing appearance. A beautiful toned high neck eagle has been expertly placed in the center of the obverse. The bird is in near perfect condition, showing virtually no wear what soever. At the top of the handle next to the upper crossguard, a fine looking SA runes button is shown very much in the same condition. Both upper and lower crossguards have take on a striking gold tone patina, beautifully matching all of the nickel silver components of this edged weapon.
The scabbard to this dagger is in excellent condition. It remains straight, void of any hits, splits, bends, or dings. The factory brown anodizing is about as nice as you could ask for on an edged weapon that is nearly 90 years old! It rates very strong at 97%. Both upper and lower fittings are in good shape, held tight to the shell, and have taken on the same golden hue as the hilt crossguards.
We finish up with the blade. It remains full length, straight, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, or cutting edge chips. A bright factory surface graces both sides, and loaded with a fine line crossgrain from hilt to tip which collectors love to see. The Alles fur Deutschland motto that this firm imparted on their blade is quite light and shallow, typical of this manufacture. And you might also notice that the lettering to the etch is smaller than most other firms which produced these introductory dress daggers early on. Another unique characteristic of this small edged weapon manufacture. On the reverse is exactly the same in regards to the trademark. It too has a light and shallow etch, exactly matching the motto on the obverse.
A fairly rare maker for these early political daggers, and truly in excellent condition. SOLD
