Rare Maker Early SA Dagger by Kuhrt – D980

It’s always a challenge for collectors to locate any rare maker SA daggers to begin with. On the other hand, trying to find a rare maker that has condition too, compounds the issue immensely. Here is a beauty that has both of those qualities all rolled into one.

A fantastic oak grip starts this SA out in fine order. It is void of any chips, flakes, cracks, or splits to speak of save for just one small pressure mark on the reverse. This handle has been beautifully preserved because of the period lacquer that it had applied over it’s surface. There is still quite a bit of that coating still present on the wood as well. The nickel eagle fair’ed pretty good, though displaying just a little wear to the breast feathers and bird’s head. Above it at the area of the top crossguard, the SA runes button is all dark with age. In spite of that oxidation all of the brown enamel is still present in the insignia. Now take a look at those gorgeous toned fittings! Absolutely what some collectors love to see on one of these early Storm Trooper’s daggers.

The scabbard to this dagger is in excellent condition. In spite of what looks like oxidation on the surface, is actually wear to the period lacquer that is present on this shell. That factory protective process is extremely nice on this scabbard, and rates quite strong at 95%. Additionally, this sheath remains straight, void of any hits, creases or bends. Both upper and lower nickel silver fittings have taken on that same undisturbed patina as the crossguards, totally matching the hilt hardware to a tee. Through the upper fitting ring a decent early hanger completes this scabbard assembly.
