Postal Protection Officer’s Dagger by Weyersberg – D1008

These postal officer’s dagger are a rather rare edged weapon produced during the 3rd Reich era. Though even more scarce is finding one in the condition that this example displays. Have a look.

The beautiful “ebony” type wood grip to this Weyersberg postal dagger is truly outstanding. The areas not covered by the portapee display little if any wear, being void of any chips, flakes, cracks, or missing material. As the knot was rather loose when we received this dagger, I did check the entire handle to confirm that even under the cord the wood remains as pristine as the other sections. About mid way up the obverse an excellent organizational eagle displays fantastic detail throughout, and is properly pinned securely in place. The nickel crossguard consisting of a double sided eagle head, as well as dual swastikas front and back, are in excellent condition. All of the enamel remains at a 100% on the emblems both front and back. Even the period black detail lines in the length of the horizontal guard, as well as the eagle’s eye, is absolutely the best. The underside of the crossguard has been nicely stamped with the DRP letters, and department inventory control number 1053. Finally, the knot is a standard 42cm portapee that came with this edged weapon, which we shored up snug into place.

A truly wonderful scabbard accompanies this postal officer’s dagger.  The shell remains straight, void of any hits, splits, or dings, with a killer factory period black enamel that rates 97%. With the rather long swinging chain suspensions that these edged weapons have it’s a wonder that the paint has held up this fantastic. But really it just goes along with everything else this pristine Weyersberg postal has going for it without saying. All 3 nickel fitting are in place, and remain tight and secure to the shell. A beautiful nickel chain assembly with the proper clip completes the suspension hanger.

As for the blade, it just doesn’t get any better!

These postal protection leaders daggers do not come around all that often per se’. And when they do, they rarely are in the condition that you see with this example. What a truly sweet shiv!    SOLD
