Police NCO Sword by Rath – D842
This is an excellent 3rd Reich Police Degen sold by the distributor Herm Rath from Solingen. An excellent grip begins the hilt of this edged weapon in fine order. Though the wood is a little faded over time and typical for these handles, it is void of any cracks, splits, or chips. Additionally, it is seated nice and tight between the upper and lower ferrules. A darkened police grip eagle has been set straight and flush to the wood, and securely in place. The D guard still retains decent period plating on it’s surface, with just a couple spots of light corrosion. The accompanied scabbard to this degen is a good looking shell. It is straight, void of any bends, splits, or creases, with very good period black enamel covering 90% of the surface. The top fitting is held secure by the proper factory flat head screws. And lastly the blade. It is a 29” example which perfectly matches up to the length of the scabbard that it is housed in. This blade remains nice and straight, void of any sharpening, tipping or cutting edge chips. An excellent matte finish is shown on both sides, with just light surface aging overall. While present, the leather washer is torn on one side. That can be easily rectified if the next owner wishes to do so. Stamped on the reverse riccasso is a set of SS runes within a diamond, and the distributor’s name: Herm Rath, Solingen. A nice un-touched NCO sword. SOLD
