Personalized Kriegs Dagger by Eickhorn – D827

Personalized edged weapons always bring a special attachment for collectors. Though not always identified, the mere fact that they have the name of the owner of a particular piece, adds a bit extra to the artifact. Here’s a nice Eickhorn in this listing.

An excellent grip and hilt assembly begins this fine edged weapon, right from the start. The off white Trolon handle is good condition, void of any chips, cracks, or splits. It has been wrapped with the typical double strand brass wire, all in place and snug in the turned grooves. Both the crossguard and pommel still retain a fair amount of factory gilt on their surfaces, which is always nice to see. Tightly wrapped around the handle and crossguard is a beautifully toned portapee. Laced in the proper reef hitch pattern, it frozen in place.

The scabbard to this Kriegs dagger is in very good shape. It remains fairly straight, with limited amount of surface imperfections usually encountered with these soft brass shells. Both scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. On the reverse of the upper section of the shell, there is a beautifully jeweler hand engraved name; Hans Brix. The letter have been burnished black, and stand out impressively. With some research this name may open up the door for a collector to actually put together a file on this navy officer. In any event, it is a nice touch to this 3rd Reich Kriegsmarine dirk.

Lastly the blade, and it’s a honey. It remains full length, perfectly straight, tight in the fittings, void of any tipping, sharpening, or cutting edge chips. Excellent factory plating is shown on both sides, with just the typical riccasso surface oxidation. A nice dark fouled anchor and sea plant etch graces both obverse and reverse of this beautiful blade. On the obverse reinforcing block next to the buffer plate, and etched with the same expert craftsman’s hand, is the identical name seen on the scabbard shell; Hans Brix. On the reverse is logo stamp of the firm known for their excellence in 3rd Reich edged weapons; Eickhorn.

A beautiful personalized 2nd model Kriegs dagger, with the possibility of further research on the owner. RESERVED
