Collectors don’t all that often encounter personalized Luftwaffe daggers when in comparison to their counterpart Heer examples. Here is an attractive one in this listing.
A beautiful grip begins the description of this 2nd Model Luftwaffe officers’ dagger. The Trolon material has turned a beautiful dark orange in color and appears to be void of any noticeable damage. Tightly wrapped around the circumference is the typical springy wire that this firm was known for on their 2nd model handles. Both the crossguard and pommel nicely contrast this grip with their burnished background highlighting the features in relief. Though even more so by the absolutely gorgeous factory gilt swastikas on both sides of the pommel. On the reverse of the crossguard is shown the jeweler engraved name ” Beckmann”. And lastly, around the lower section of this grip is the 23cm portapee which came tied as you see it. This beautiful hilt assembly has it all; stunning grip color, gilt pommel, and period jeweler personalized name!
A near perfect scabbard accompanies this Eickhorn Luftwaffe dagger. The shell remains straight, void of any hits, dings, or bends. Take a look at the period factory airplane gray finish, as it is absolutely stunning! Both scabbard bands are securely in place and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 side screws hold the throat in place.
The blade to this edged weapon remains full length, straight, devoid of any buffing, polishing, tipping, sharpening or cutting-edge chips. The surface does show some light age staining, though not all that detracting for everything else this dagger has going for it. On the reverse ricasso is the trademark of excellence known in the collecting community, that being the Eickhorn squirrel trademark.
