Partial Rohm SA Honor Dagger by Eickhorn – D1119

The popularity of these partial Rohm honor daggers have shot up significantly over the last few years with collectors. Especially those with an added touch of “character”  in which the recipient took the task upon himself to remove just the SA leaders name. Here is a neat untouched example in this listing.

A beautiful burl wood oak grip begins the description on this early Eickhorn SA dagger. Laden with light and dark grain throughout, it is an exceptionally well preserved handle. Void of any chips, splits, gouges, or missing wood, it’s about as nice as we typically see with these initial production Storm trooper’s daggers. There is a tad of minor wood shrinkage, though nothing to be all that concerned with. The “hour glass” shape of this handle is very much spells out Eickhorn all the way. And that also goes for the high neck nickel eagle emblem which was favored by this edge weapon firm as well. The eagle remains in fine condition with wonderful detail throughout, additionally it has been set straight as well as flush to the wood. At the top of the obverse, the same can be said for the SA runes button. It has decent silvering to the letters / circle around them, while retaining all of the dark brown enamel in the background. And as all of you astute collectors can see, the in-house nickel silver crossguards are hand filed with deep accent grooves, another trait of this renown manufacture. Both crossguards are nice and smooth, have taken a golden patina over their surfaces, and no doubt are HE caster marked on the interior.

A very nice scabbard accompanies this Rohm SA Honor dagger. The shell is straight, void of any hits, splits, creases, or bends, and exhibits an excellent period dark brown anodizing over it’s surface. Both upper and lower nickel fittings remain good condition overall, displaying a heavy gold / green patina which exactly matches that which is seen on the hardware shown on the hilt. Finally, as a nice extra, a fine early 2 piece hanger is shown in the photos laced through the upper fitting ring. That hanger is a nice bonus in itself.

We finish up with what these honor daggers are all about; the blade. It is full length, straight, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, or cutting edge chips. The surface exhibits some light wear and age, though not all that detracting for such an un-touched and un-cleaned dagger. On the obverse the Alles fur Deutschland motto still projects a decent amount of burnishing that these blades were etched with. Now on the reverse side of this blade is where it gets interesting. You can see the “ In heartfelt Komradeship” dedication is all there, and still nice and dark, each and every litter. But in order to sort of obey the Reichsfuhrer’s directive of  July 4, 1934, the recipient of this edged weapon took on the daunting task of just filing the Ernst Rohm signature off of his SA dagger blade. The actual wording of the order was that the entire dedication and signature were to be removed from these blades. So technically, the owner of this dagger was not in compliance with the directive. These rare examples displaying as described are incredibly neat to say the least! Lastly, the double oval small squirrel trademark associated with these edged weapons is shown just below the lower crossguard.

A desirable as well as historic Rohm SA, with the dedication remaining on blade.  $3995.00
