Partial Rohm SA by Heller – D1160
As the title states, not only is this SA a desirable Partial Rohm honor dagger but it was also manufactured by one of the firms who added beautiful dark mottos to the blades of their political Stormtrooper edged weapons. This is a sweet untouched dagger, have a look!
A fine thin profile grip begins the description of this Heller SA dagger. The oak wood remains in excellent condition, void of any chips, cracks, flakes, or missing material. Both the nickel silver grip eagle as well as the SA runic are dark as all get out, as nothing has been touched nor cleaned on this edged weapon since being returned from WW II as a souvenir some 90 years ago. The same is true for the crossguards too. One look at the crusted over patina says it all. An outstanding grip and hilt on this untouched SA, exactly the way that some purist collectors like their relics.
A wonderful scabbard accompanies this dagger. The chemical oxide process is so nice, I had to look twice to be sure that it wasn’t enamel paint that I wasn’t staring at. That surface process has held up amazingly well on this shell, to the extent that it exhibits nearly 100% of the anodizing and 99% of the protective lacquer over its surface. You just don’t see that with these early political daggers as most collectors can attest to. As shown, the only sign of age is a little bit of crazing to the lacquer, and that truly is it. As with the hilt hardware, the upper and lower nickel fittings on this scabbard are totally encrusted with a thick patina that has settled over their surfaces. Through the upper fitting ring is the original short hanger that has been on this scabbard forever. An absolutely beautiful scabbard to this Gebruder Heller Rohm Honor dagger.
We close with the blade, and it’s a fine example to say the least. It remains full length, straight, void of any polishing, buffing, tipping, sharpening, or cutting-edge chips.( You’ll notice that I didn’t say that it was void of any grinding 🙂 ) The Alles fur Deutschland motto is absolutely killer on this blade, with each and every letter absolutely jet black. There is a little bit of surface evidence of where the owner of this dagger smoothed out his handywork grind, probably in his garage or woodshed. Finally, on the reverse side you can see where he did what he could to efface the Rohm dedication and signature. Luckily for us collectors and nearly a century later, much of that dedication can still be seen on the blade of this historic edged weapon. And that also includes the small, darkened anchor trademark. That being the logo of the Heller edged weapon firm.
This is a neat dagger in it’s entirety, and I probably should stash it for myself. Grab it before I decide to do so! $3995.00
