Partial Rohm Honor Dagger by Eickhorn – D675 –

A Partial Rohm SA dagger bridges that gap in the 3rd Reich edge weapon world between having a fully Ground Rohm in ones collection, and owning a rather expensive complete Full Rohm. These partials are desirable, historic, and in my opinion, affordable. Here’s a damn nice one!

A textbook burl-wood oak grip starts off the hilt of this SA, in fine style. With light and dark grain running throughout, the smooth texture and surface of the wood is beautiful. Void of any missing wood, it exhibits just some light tapping pressure marks on the reverse top. Both nickel silver grip emblems consisting of the SA runes button and the eagle inset are in fine condition, showing little of any wear. As this is an early 1934 Ernst Rohm honor dagger, naturally it is equip with all nickel silver fittings. The surfaces on the crossguards are smooth on both sides, with desirable dull patina which has settled over them. It is evident that this edged weapon has not been cleaned nor polished since being returned home as souvenir of WWII. It’s interesting to note that though this crossguard is control benchmarked 2 on the underside, it did not go through the normal Gruppe distribution channels. Therefore is void of any SA Gau stamps. When this is observed the indication usually indicates that the dagger was given out personally as a gift by either Rohm himself, or another high party leader. A beautiful looking hilt on this honor dagger.

Man what a wonderful scabbard to this baby! Not only does it project 95% of the original brown anodizing over it’s surface, but it also retains 80% of the factory protective lacquer on top of it. You don’t see that all that often with these sheaths. As shown, there is a little dull oxidation on the obverse near the lower fitting, and one minor shallow depression on the reverse. Other than that, it’s about as nice as it gets for such an early SA. Both uncleaned solid nickel fittings are in good shape, and held by 4 factory dome head screws. As the case more than not, the lower ball has taken a hit. Finally as a nice little extra, this scabbard is equip with a good looking early nickel clip snout nose hanger. A great looking scabbard to this partial Rohm SA!

Which brings us to why it is called a partial Rohm. This blade is full length, perfectly straight, void of any sharpening or retipping. It has a beautiful luster on the obverse, from crossguard to tip, running down the entire length of it. In the center you can see a nicely burnished Alles fur Deutschland motto too boot. It is obvious observing the reverse that this was a factory ground execution of the offender Ernst Rohm’s signature only. As shown, the part of the dedication which states In heartfelt Comradeship still remains very prominent. The magician who performed this procedure took the extra time to not only re-polish the grind area, but also re-crossgrained it as well. A super neat job! In doing so part of the Eickhorn squirrel logo was sacrificed, but you can still see about half of it. Truly, a fantastic name only erased, partial Rohm blade!

There you have it. Though there are some on the market at times, take a look at the condition of this one. SOLD
