Nickel Silver/Tombac Cased Flak Badge by Adolf Scholze – M506
This is a fantastic early 1st pattern Luftwaffe flak badge, referred to often as the “ball hinge” example. Yes, these Tombac proficiency award manufactured by the A. Scholze firm are beautifully detailed, made from fine nickel silver, and super quality examples. And the one in this offering is a beauty! Designed with that big ole 88mm angle of death monster which rocked the European continent during the 3rd Reich era, these Luft awards are one of the favorite with collectors. The badge is in wonder condition and shape, and shown with the proper hardware set up on the reverse. If that’s not enough, this flak badge comes with the original that it was issued with. As with the badge, it too is in excellent condition throughout. By the looks of the killer condition of the badge, I think that this set was just set aside and never worn by the recipient.
