Nickel Silver Storm Trooper’s Dagger by Puma – D1116

Always popular with collectors is the wild cat logo trademark used by the Puma edged weapon firm, who incidentally is still in business today. Here is a solid untouched example in this offering.

An excellent grip begins the description of this uncleaned early SA dagger. The medium brown handle remains in very nice condition, void of any splits, chips, fractures, or repairs. It has just the typical light pressure marks that we find associated with a dagger which was worn during the infamous era. Additionally, there are a couple small flecks of superficial surface paint, which look to have landed on the obverse of this grip. If it bugs the new purchaser, perhaps a Q-tip with a small amount of acetone may do the trick. Though actually, it’s not that big of concern in my opinion. The rest of this handle is as nice as a collector could ask for. An excellent toned nickel eagle has been set perfectly straight and flush to the wood, just below the center line as proper. And at the upper crossguard on the obverse, the same can be said for the SA runes button. The emblem retains nice silvering to the highlights, as well as all the light brown enamel in the background. Both upper and lower nickel silver crossguards are smooth to the touch, and have taken an muted golden / green patina over their surfaces.

The scabbard to this early SA is straight, void of any hits, splits, bends, creases, or dings. The factory chemical browning process has held up good on this shell, and though dulled still remains strong at 90+ precent. There is even some areas of protective lacquer still intact near the upper and lower fittings. And speaking of,  both of those nickel silver components are in very nice condition, tight to the shell, and with the same undisturbed patina which is found on the hilt crossguards. Through the upper fitting ring the original hanger which has been on this scabbard forever is frozen in place. Though the surface of the leather is aged, the hanger is all complete with all of the components.

A very good blade completes the description of this Storm Trooper’s dagger. It is full length, straight, void of any sharpening, tipping, cleaning, buffing, or cutting edge chips. There are some light surface smudges which are not all that detracting, in consideration for an edged weapon that has remained uncleaned and untouched for all of these years. A beautiful crossgrain is still intact both fore and aft, running the length of both sides. Finally, a stunning Alles fur Deutschland burnished motto is etched straight down the obverse. On the reverse is simply the head of the puma, and city of Solingen name.

A nice straight forward, early SA. As green as they get!    SOLD
