National Socialist Honor Bayonet by Eickhorn – D907

These NS student league bayonets are rarely ever offered onto the collectors market, and are considered scarce to say the least. As this edged weapon was not shown in the 1938 Eickhorn Kundendienst, it is thought that this particular pattern blade was exclusively sold to the actual student schools directly. The one in this offering is truly a fine example.

Both checked grip plates on the hilt of this bayonet remain in good condition, as well as tightly riveted to the spine of this edged weapon. The material is in good shape overall, with just one very tiny imperfection above the lower obverse rivet. The quillion and pommel plating has held up decent, displaying just moderate surface wear. In the pommel section, the release button is intact and functions just as it should. An excellent scabbard accompanies this bayonet as shown in the photos. The shell is straight, void of any bends, splits, creases, hits, or dings. The beautiful period black enamel over this scabbard is in wonderful condition, and rates 98%. On top of that a killer original to the piece frog  shown at the top of this sheath. The unmarked leather remains in exception condition, both obverse and reverse. We finish this description with the blade, and it is a total screamer! Not only is the plating near perfect, but across the obverse in beautiful burnished script are the powerful words of the etch; Honor, Strength, Freedom. Finally, the reverse ricasso is lightly stamped with the 35-41 Eickhorn trademark. This blade is so gorgeous, I’m not even going to think about putting it back in the scabbard. Collectors do not see these all that often, and this is one SCHWEET example!   SOLD
