Matching Combat Bayonet by WKC – D756

This early war 1939 dated Mauser K98 bayonet is in decent collectible condition. No problem with the matched Bakelite grip plates. They remain good condition, and tightly fastened to the spine of the blade. The steel scabbard does show surface wear from the time that this edged weapon was carried by it’s owner. In lieu of that it remains straight, void of any hits or creases. The lip of the shell is numbered 8313, which is the same as shown on the riccasso of the blade. Around the top section of the shell is a tropical web hanger, which is literally frozen to this scabbard. All of the stitching remains in place, with nothing loose or tattered. The proper hold down strap and reinforced steel grommet completes this assembly. The blued blade is an absolute beauty. Showing only the typical runner tip drag wear, common to all of these edged weapons. The rest of the blade bluing rates 90%. Lastly, the spine of the blade is dated 39, with the riccasso obverse bearing the matching scabbard number. On the reverse is shown the maker’s initials; W.KC.  A nice Afrika Corps matching K98 rig.
