M43 SS Panzer Cap – H212
As the title states, this offering is for a model 1943 soft cap, manufactured and issued to those serving in SS panzer units. It is the Dachau referred to type, exhibiting an uncovered underside brim in which these clothing articles were designed with. Though many of these caps were liberated from the textile factory directly at the concentration camp and in unissued condition, this particular example exhibits light wear overall. So it’s hard to say whether this cap was actually issued and worn, or just displays milid storage age. That aside, the exterior black wool remains in fine shape, void of any rips, tears, holes, or mothing. Basically there are just some light creases to the fabric overall. An excellent machine embroidered one piece trapezoid insignia has been expertly centered and sewn to the front of the cap as shown. Underneath it is the typical 2 button configuration which hold the cold weather earflaps in the upright position. On the inside and already mention, the cardboard brim stiffener is shown void of the wool covering. Exactly like these caps have been known to have been manufactured. Lastly, the lining is all intact, properly sewn, and stamped 56 for the size. A very nice display example! SOLD
