M40 Single Decal Luft Helmet by Quist – H178

Oh, I know some guys will turn their nose up to Luft helmets thinking that they are more plentiful than black wound badges. But try finding yourself a damn nice example, untouched 80 year old matte surface, excellent liner, and most of all………… a straight applied decal. Add those all up, and it narrows down the field considerably.

But look no further, that is exactly what is being offered in this listing. With a dark blue uncleaned beautiful matte exterior, the shell of this Q64 couldn’t be nicer. The surface shows just the right amount of light wear, to give it that appealing desire that most collectors love. Additionally, all 3 matching rivets retain 99% of the factory applied paint intact. The all important eagle transfer that we often see applied in a nose dive, twisted wings, and skewed swastikas hanging out of the eagle’s keester, is as perfect as it gets. It is straight, aligned with the vent hole, and has taken on a gorgeous light gold tone. On the inside skirt the steel is stamped Q64 next to the left hand bale. While the very reverse area with the lot number what looks like DN184. The steel band is uniformly in the proper factory oval shape, void of any damage or misshaping. 3 untouched straight rivet leaves and their corresponding washers hold it in place. Finally, the leather is supple to the touch and still remains in it’s natural light color. Though missing the drawstring, all 8 fingers are intact. Add a chin strap and adjuster string, and you’ve got yourself a beauty of a M40 single decal Luft.  SOLD
