M33 SS Dagger by Pack – D771

For as prolific as the Ernst Pack edged weapon firm was in producing a ton of SA’s early in the Nazi era, they sure didn’t manufacture many SS daggers during the same period. Here is a nice one in this offering.

The grip to this SS dagger is in very good condition overall. Showing just some very minor flaking at the obverse lower crossguard section, and the typical light pressure marks. As most long time 3rd Reich edged weapon collectors are aware of, it’s damn near as good as it gets when it comes to one of these early model 33 SS handles. Typical for this maker, the handle has been fitted with a high neck nickel silver eagle, an in-house preference for the large E. Pack firm. The emblem has a beautiful patina over it’s surface, with virtually no noticeable wear at all. At the top of the grip a fantastic SS runes has been placed totally flush into the wood. Like the eagle it is nearly mint in regards to the silvering and enamel. The straight across look of the lower crossguard is a typical Pack trait which many collectors have picked up on and being familiar with this manufacture. Both the top an bottom crossguards have nice smooth surfaces which have turned a dull with muted appearance  and a subtle patina over them. The textbook low shoulder pommel nut holds this beautiful hilt secure to the tang of the blade.

I wish I could get a scabbard this nice with every early SS dagger we got in. As the one to this dagger is the exception, rather than the rule. This shell is straight, void of any major hits, creases or bends, and retains a beautiful blued finish over it’s surface that rates 95%. There is a couple specks of surface oxidation, but man I’m telling you a shell like this is something that you don’t all that often see. Both upper and lower nickel fittings are in good shape, and held secure to the shell with 4 factory dome head screws.

A sweet blade completes this Pack SS dagger. It remains full length, drawn to a needle sharp tip, and void of any pitting, tipping or sharpening. A nice factory crossgrain and luster graces both sides, with just a couple specks of surface age. If you run your fingernail down the lower edge there is one extremely minor tick in it. So small that the camera doesn’t even show it in the photos. A nicely burnished Meine Ehre heist Treue completes this very beautiful blade. On the reverse riccasso is the Siegfried wood chopper logo, the trademark of the renown Solingen edged weapon firm of E. Pack.

This is a very nice example of an early nickel silver SS M33 dagger……..without a doubt !  SOLD
