M24 Stick Grenade by Riker – G272
Oh, I know that most of you guys don’t like these ground dug barnacles any more than I do. While rarely do you see us posting something as such, this one does have the appeal I couldn’t pass up. It is a 1939 dated and matched Richard Riker manufactured model 24, 3rd Reich stick grenade. Yes, it shows the effects of being buried in the ground at one time, but look how amazingly well the period painted stenciling has held up of the casing metal can portion. That even includes the Waffenamt eagle with the Riker 65 code as well. Collectors will see this similar effect on helmets which have been buried in the ground for years which when recovered still display excellent decal transfers remaining on the outer shells. Very much like you are seeing here. The wood handle exhibits wear and age as expected, though the RR 1939 stamp is nicely visible. The pull cord string is gone to time, yet the porcelain ball remains under the end cap. A perfect M24 of this vintage would be $1500.00. This one offered at $495.00
