Luftwaffe Officer’s Dagger by Weyersberg – D1045

Few Solingen edged weapon firms plated their blades on their line up of 2nd model Luft daggers. Where this was always the case on the 1st models from 1934 – 41, it was not as prevalent nor all that often seen with those edged weapons introduced in 1937, and termed the 2nd models.  Here is a nice Weyersberg in this offering with an attractive factory plated blade.

The light pumpkin orange grip to this 2nd model is in beautiful condition throughout. It is in fine shape overall, and void of any splits, cracks, gouges, or missing chips. Tightly wrapped around the circumference the decorative springy wire remains securely in place. The lighter airplane color of the crossguard and pommel nicely contrast the attractive hilt assembly on this Luft officer’s dolch.

An excellent scabbard accompanies this Weyersberg 2nd model. It remains perfectly straight, void of any hits, bends, twist, or splitting. An appealing muted patina is shown on both the obverse and reverse, as nothing has been cleaned on this edge weapon since being returned from WWII as a souvenir. Both scabbard bands are secure to the shell, and hold the hanger rings properly in place. One reverse set screw fastens the throat.

As for the plated blade……. A couple specks of age is truly it. And that statement actually may be overthinking it.

An excellent 2nd Model Luft, by a very premier manufacture of these daggers.      SOLD
