Luftwaffe Officer’s Dagger by Alcoso – D981

This is an excellent war time produced 2nd model Luft dagger right from the hilt on down. The Trolon handle is a beautiful bright white variety, with a striking appearance right off the bat. The material is in fantastic condition, and void of any chips, cracks, splits, or missing material. Nicely wrapped around the circumference is a double strand twisted decorative wire which is all fairly tight in place. The hilt fittings to this dagger have turned almost totally black, and project an awesome contrast to the grip. And as a nice little extra, the pommel to this dagger still retains 80% of the period factory gilt to the swastikas on both sides of this component.

An excellent textbook Alcoso scabbard accompanies this Luft dagger. It remains straight, void of any splits, bends, creases or dings. The surface patina has turned dark just like the hilt fittings, and matches them to a tee. Both scabbard bands are firmly in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 untouched flat head screws secure the throat.

An excellent blade puts the final touches on this beautiful Alcoso Luft. It remains full length, straight, drawn to a needle sharp point, and void of any tipping, sharpening or cutting edge chips. There is a wonderful muted crossgrain that runs down both sides of it, from crossguard to the very tip. The surface of this blade has a few surface imperfections here and there, though nothing all that unsightly. On the reverse is the 4th out of 5 trademarks that this edged weapon firm used on their Luft officer’s daggers.

You’ve got to love that beautiful bright white grip this edged weapon has, contrasted by the black that surrounds it, and nice blade to top it off. SOLD
