Eickhorn 2nd Model Luft Dagger – D873

Eickhorn is always known for having some of the best edge weapons and this 2nd Model Luft manufactured by this famous 3rd Reich firm is no different. As our good friend Eric would say this one “has the look” which collectors rave about.

The airplane gray fittings on the hilt of this dagger have turned dark with age, and 70 years of undisturbed beautiful patina. In lieu of that, the original factory gilt remains strong on the pommel swastikas. With the obverse hooked cross showing 80% of that delicate gold, and the reverse at 95%. This gilt process was an extra step for edge weapon firms, and few put in the additional labor and material cost to perform this pommel enhancing technique. The light orange Torlon grip is in excellent condition, void of chips, nicks, flakes, cracks, missing material, or anything else. It is tightly wrapped with springy decorative wire which is all in place, and snug all the way around the circumference of the handle. A beautiful looking untouched hilt, with the highly desirable pommel gilt swastikas.

This scabbard is like new in every respect. It’s straight, void of any hits, cracks, splits, scratches, or even a single tap. Like the shell, the scabbard band and rings have turned a dark hue. They are in place, and solid to the body of the scabbard.

Finally, the blade and it is like the rest of the dagger is untouched, full length and void any chips or sharpening. It is drawn to a needle sharp tip, and loaded with the most beautiful crossgrain that you’ll ever see! There is nothing else to the description, other than a few minor age spots not even worth mentioning really. On the reverse of the riccasso is the burnished squirrel logo of the Eickhorn firm. It is shown as jet black and perfect, as the day that this blade was finished some 75 years ago.

If you are looking for a 2nd model, you can’t go wrong with this baby as it “has the look”!  SOLD
