Long Slotted Police Dress Bayonet by Paweco Weyersberg – D869
These Paweco late Weimar early 3rd Reich police bayonets are rather uncommon to say the least. While resembling the standard Nazi era dress bayonet, the blade on this edged weapon is extra long measuring 16”. To give you an idea, the typical long Heer parade bayonet in this configuration sports a blade that is 9 ¾”. Anyway, the blade on this police bayonet remains full length, void of any tipping, sharpening, or cutting edge chips. A very simple trademark is shown on the reverse ricasso which reads; PAWECO, SOLINGEN. The grip plates on the hilt of this edged weapon are in good shape, void of any damage, and tightly riveted to the spine. The grip emblem consists of the typically seen 3rd Reich police organization style. It has been center and tightly pinned to the obverse plate. Few of these edged weapon are known with this Nazi era police emblem on the grip. Making this example quite rare for that fact alone. While the pommel section has some lifting to the plating, it’s not all that terribly unsightly. On the reverse of the crossguard the following has been stamped; S. Tr. 30. This same police property mark is also shown on the reverse of the upper scabbard section. And finally the scabbard to this rare bayonet. I remains straight, void of any bends, creases or hits. The period blued finish is outstanding, and rates strong at 95%. The throat is held by a single obverse screw. Below it the frog stud is secure to the shell.
A rare 22” inch, slotted 3rd Reich police dress bayonet. SOLD
