Large Oval Ground Rohm SA by Eickhorn – D957

As most collectors are aware of, recipients of the Rohm honor dagger had the option of grinding the blade on their SA themselves, returning it to the factory to have them do it, or having the dagger entirely replaced with a new one. Here is one that looks like its owner had the Eickhorn factory grind the Rohm dedication, re-polish the surface, and return it to the recipient.

A good-looking medium brown wood grip starts out this early SA in fine order. With that textbook hourglass shape, it definitely spells out Eickhorn all the way. Very typical for this manufacture, the surface is smooth and shape of this handle and fits the hilt hardware nicely. This grip is void of any splits, chips, repairs, or missing material. A nickel silver high neck eagle has been expertly set proper just below the midline of this handle, and in good condition. At the top of the grip, the same can be said about the SA runes button. Both crossguards are smooth throughout and uncleaned. On the lower fitting is the Gruppe mark Nrh.

The scabbard to this dagger is in decent condition. It remains straight, void of any hits, dings, or creases, and projects the period brown anodized finish which shows light oxidation.  Both upper and lower fittings like the hilt crossguards are uncleaned and untouched. They show the typical small ding imperfections, with the lower chape ball taking a pretty good hit as you can see, but it is not split.

A beautiful blade completes this Eickhorn SA dagger. It is full length, void of any sharpening, pitting or cutting-edge chips. The tip has the slightest little micro tap to it, though not all that noticeable. A fantastic factory polished surface luster is shown running down the obverse, with a dark burnished Alles fur Deutschland etch contrasting it in the most striking way. The reverse has been factory ground, polished, with the addition of a crossgrain added to disguise the area which bore the Ernst Rohm dedication and signature. The craftsman who accomplished this task did a great job as there is only a slight remanence of the large double oval Eickhorn squirrel trademark.

Though the trademark is mostly gone, these large oval Eickhorn 1st edition SA’s are quite desirable.   $1095.00
