Land Customs Dagger by C&J – D1099

Here is one of those edged weapons that the contract to manufacture them only went to a few firms during the 3rd Reich era. And that is the so called Land Customs dagger, and this one made by the Clemen & Jung company. The wood core handle covered by green leather is decent on the hilt of this example. While showing darkening and some light scuffs, it’s not all that bad per se’. If the next owner chooses, a little bit of Meltonian green cream would do wonders for this grip.  Additionally the handle still remains tightly wrapped with single strand decorative wire all in place. The hilt components on this example are all aluminum which is usually typical for most, but not all of these custom officials daggers. And the fittings on this hilt are very nice indeed, exhibiting excellent relief detail.

The scabbard to this C & J land customs Zoll dagger is in fine condition. The shell remains straight, void of any bends, creases, splits, or major wear. Like the grip, the leather has held up extremely nice on this scabbard. As typical with this manufacture all of the fittings and the shell itself is of steel composition. Shown in the photos the plating remains pretty decent on the 3 line decorative components. Both hanger rings are properly in place.

No 2 ways about it, the blade to this dagger has endured some storage challenges as you can see. In spite of that it remains full length, drawn to a needle sharp point, void of any sharpening, cutting edge chips, or tipping. Though the area is not shown, the blade washer is gone to time on this edged weapon. Underneath of the crossguard on the obverse is the “Z” shield logo of the Clemen & Jung edged weapon firm. While on the reverse is stamped with their company name spelled out.

For someone who doesn’t want to spring the $3000 + that these daggers most generally command, this one is a deal at. SOLD
