K98 Police Depot Bayonet by Alcoso -D777

While we don’t often offer all that much in the line of K98 bayonets, because most of the time these edged weapons are in average hard used condition. But the one in this listing is a stunning example that some collectors is going to absolutely love! The Bakelite grip plates are in excellent shape, void of any cracks, splits, or missing material. They are expertly trimmed and securely fit to the hilt section of this bayonet. This area as shown has extremely nice period bluing to the back strap, crossguard, and pommel areas. The scabbard to this bayonet is in super condition, being void of any splits, bends, or breaks. The period bluing is a thing to behold on this shell, as it rates extremely strong at 95%. Wrapped around the upper part of the shell and held by the stud, is a black combat style frog hanger. The leather is in good shape, properly sewn, and is maker marked as well as dated 1942. Finishing up this K98 bayo is the blade. And it is a screamer! Straight, tight in the fittings, void of any sharpening, pitting or pry marks, it is truly as nice as they come. As typical, there is the internal drag marks confined to the tip on both sides. That aside, the rest of this blade rates damn near a full mint! These Nazi era police depot bayonets are not numbered on the scabbards nor the blades as we usually encounter on the issued Wehrmacht K98 examples. But merely Waffenamt eagle stamped on the spine of the blade, with the addition of the small scales trademark of the Alcoso edged weapon firm. A gorgeous uncommon example of a 3rd Reich era police depot stamped K98 bayonet.  SOLD
