Hitler Youth Knife with Motto by Grawisco – D1211

Usually when a nice condition HJ is offered at a show or sales venue, many times it is all buffed up to enhance the condition to make it more appealing. And probably rightfully so, as very few of these kids’ knives are ever seen in exceptional condition. But the one in this offering should satisfy the purist who is looking for that untouched example, that also has the look.

The hilt of this example is in an uncleaned state, just like all of the components of this desirable Hitler Youth knife. As you can see, the surface has a thick patina over the period plating which has held up quite nicely. Both grip plates are devoid of any damage, have been expertly trimmed, and remain tightly riveted to the spine. As for the all-important HJ diamond, it’s a beauty. The enamel remains damage free as we would hope to see. So much indeed, that the original silvering around the swastika is almost completely intact. Rarely do collectors ever encounter that with any HJ knife.

The scabbard to this knife remains in good condition. The shell is straight, and void of any hits, bends, splits, dings, or creases. For one of these youth knives the period oxide bluing has held up very nicely to say the least. This scabbard is complete with its small leather hanger with the hold down snap intact.

And finally, the blade. And what a honey it is! Like every other component to this HJ, it remains un-cleaned, un-polished, and virtually un-touched. As shown on the obverse, the Hitler Youth motto Blut und Ehre couldn’t be any nicer! On the reverse is the transitional motto displaying not only the Grawisco logo, but also the date and this edged weapon firm’s RZM contract number; RZM M7/30, 1936.

Looking for an HJ with the blade motto that has everything else going for it? Don’t pass on this one, as they rarely come along!  SOLD
