Hitler Youth Knife with Motto by E. Knecht – D1115

As we know, most of these knives in the hands of youths were literally rode hard and put away wet. Well, the one in this offering is the exception to the rule. As a transitional knife manufactured one year before they dropped the motto etch on the blade, the hilt to this HJ has held up pretty decent. The nickel plating to both the crossguard and pommel sections remains good, with modest surface wear overall. Both of the grip plates are beautifully preserved, on obverse and reverse sides alike. Finely checked and expertly trimmed, they remain super tight to the spine of this knife. An absolutely fantastic HJ emblem completes the hilt assembly. It is void of any chips or damage to the enamel.

An absolutely stunning scabbard accompanies this mid period HJ knife. It is heavy, it is straight, and complete with period enamel which is about as absolutely perfect as you are apt to find on one of these little edged weapons. And that goes for the hanger too. The leather remains crisp, straight, and firm, with the reinforcing rivet a hold down strap intact.

Finally the blade. It is straight, full length, tight in the hilt, while being void of any sharpening, buffing, tipping or cutting edge chips. There are some surface smudges here and there, though not nearly as bad as most of these kids weapons exhibit. The Blut und Ehre motto remains lightly burnished on the obverse as shown in the photos. Where the reverse is stamped with both the E. Knecht logo as well as their RZM contract number / date; M 7/11 1937.

Truly decent condition on this HJ and a harder to find maker with a moto will make for a nice addition to any collection.     $1350.00
