Hitler Youth Knife by Shuttlehofer – D1044

Offering an HJ knife which was produced later in the 3^rd Reich era, after 1938 . For a knife manufactured during war time the nickel hilt components to this HJ have held up nicely. The same can be said and is true for the grip plates. As they are void of any cracks, splits, or missing material, and remain tightly riveted to the spine of this edged weapon. An excellent HJ diamond emblem is shown in the obverse black Bakelite panel as shown in the photos.The sheath to this knife is straight, void of any splits, creases, or bends. The black enamel is both period and factory done, and remains fairly strong on the surface of this scabbard. You’ve probably already noticed that the lower ¼ of this shell has the evidence of some red paint. It’s unknown why this was done or the meaning of it. But it certainly looks to have been modified during the period. It is even evident that the red was actually painted over the factory black enamel, and not as a touch up per se’. At the top of the scabbard the original leather hanger is complete, with a hold down strap that functions properly. Lastly, the blade remains full length, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, or overcleaning. There is a single small edge chip on the lower cutting edge.     $625.00
