Heer Officer’s Dagger by Eickhorn – D1006

Seldom do collectors encounter period army officers daggers with as much factory lacquer as the example shown in this listing. Though we will get to that in a bit. This description starts out with an excellent handle on this Eickhorn Heer dagger. It is more of a lemon yellow in color on both sides and throughout. All of the Trolon material is in good condition, displaying only a few superficial wear specks in a couple areas. Other than that it is void of any splits, cracks, chips, or missing material. The crossguard, ferrule, and pommel are all pretty much dark with age, due to the lacquer being penetrated and exposed to the atmosphere.

The scabbard to this dagger remains nice and straight, void of any splits, crease, or dings. What might not be noticeable to some collectors while viewing the surface of this shell, is actually a considerable amount of factory protective lacquer remaining on this scabbard. Almost all of this factory sprayed on chemical is usually absent on these army daggers which were brought home as souvenirs. As a result collectors end up with completely dark scabbard usually with a bunch of patina over the surface. Kind of the same in which you see with the hilt fittings on this edged weapon. So it is quite rare to see a scabbard shell like the one to this Eickhorn army officer’s dagger. Finally, both scabbard bands are in place and hold the hanger rings properly. One reverse screw secures the throat.

As for the blade, it’s stone mint and a beauty! Just doesn’t get any better than a blade like this and the pictures do all the talking.  $895.00
