Fuhrer Standarte by WMFT – F209

The Standarte Des Fuhreres und Oberbefehishabers der Wehrmacht or Standard of the Fuhrer and Commander in Chief of the Wehrmacht is a well know and documented flag in the collecting community. These Fuhrer Standartes were kept on hand at different locations through Germany and flown when Hitler was to be personally present on location.  The most noted company was Wurtemmbergische Cattiunmanufactur as we see their label in blue and white sewn to the lanyard strip of the ones which they manufactured with their name.

These standartes were silk screen printed on course wool and typically show light age and wear as this one does. It is complete with a full rope lanyard, as it is a true flag and not a banner.

We know from documentation that the flags were made in 4 different sizes with usually the header ink stamped with that information. That being:
50×50 cm, Group I
100x100cm, Group 2
150x150cm, Group 3
240x240cm, Group 4

The example in this offering in my opinion is the most desirable size offered by this flag firm. As shown in the photos the header is stamped Gr. 1 50×50 cm. In addition to the abbreviation of Stand. d Fuhrers.
