Fantastic Mid-Period SS Dagger by Eickhorn – D1250

This is one of the most absolutely interesting SS daggers that I’ve ever inspected. Let’s take a look at every component as it is presented here.

A fantastic grip and hilt assembly begin the description of this mid-period M33 SS dagger. The handle remains in absolutely wonderful condition, void of anything so much as a pressure mark. Both of the emblems consisting of a nickel silver high neck eagle as well as the SS runes button remain in excellent condition, with minimal wear to each. In studying SS daggers over the years, both the use of this style of emblems within this particular hourglass shaped handle, are very unique to the components which the Robert Klaas edged weapon firm used to assemble their M33’s with during the era. Coincidently, nearly the exact textbook features which the Eickhorn company used as well. You’ll notice I used the word assemble in reference to the Klaas firm. That is because this company chose to purchase their edged weapon parts from vendors, as opposed to actually being a true manufacture. Since the tang nut was loose, I inspected the crossguard fittings as well as the grip. Typical for the Klaas firm, the top crossguard is ever so slightly recessed in the area of where the pommel nut seats. A key characteristic of early M33 SS daggers sold by this edged weapon firm. As for the caster marks, both have an “H” in them. As a buyer of components from several manufactures, these particular guards were known at times to have also been associated with Klaas produced early SS daggers. There is absolutely not a hint of evidence that the grip has been altered in any way or form. And you can see all the components have a totally perfect fit. Without a single doubt in my mind, this early hilt assembly from the Klaas edged weapon firm, complete with nickel silver hardware and grip emblems.

An excellent scabbard assembly is shown to this beautiful M33 SS dagger. The shell is about as nice as they come, being straight, void of any hits, dings, bends, or splits. The period chemical oxide bluing is wonderfully preserved, and rates 99%. There is just a hint of the protective lacquer abutting the top nickel fitting. Both upper and lower solid nickel components are in good shape, with minimal misshaping to the lower. 4 dome head screws secure the fittings to the shell. Around the upper are of this scabbard is an early SS vertical hanger. This desirable accoutrement is in very nice supple condition overall. When inserted into the scabbard, the upper fitting matches up to the lower crossguard exactly the way that it should.

And finally, we get to the blade, and it’s a beauty! Forget the description of how fantastic it is; you probably want to know how this Eickhorn blade got matched to what most likely are all Klaas components otherwise. First I want to point out, not a single alteration has been done to the shoulder of this blade, tang, tang length, lower crossguard, or anything else. It fits exactly 100% to a tee! The gorgeous burnished motto is the exact etch which we see with the serrated tail squirrel trademark associated with not only Rohm SS daggers produced by Eickhorn, but Himmlers too. As I mentioned, Klaas was not a manufacture of edged weapon components, but a firm which purchased parts, finished them in-house, and assembled their wares for sale. In my opinion and analysis, this M33 SS dagger at one time was fitted with a rare Klaas Full Rohm blade. Considering the near perfect condition that is shown, it was at some point sent to the Eickhorn edged weapon firm to have a replacement blade installed. No doubt better than being caught by your peers with a Rohm dedicated blade it! There are zero alterations to this blade, and it fits the crossguard, grip, and scabbard 100% exactly to a tee!  Where as the condition matches the rest of this edged weapon beautifully!  $5995.00
