Excellent Early HJ Knife by Grawiso – D891orseshoe Hanger – A178

As most 3rd Reich edged weapon collectors are aware of, to find a decent example of a period Hitler Youth knife can be more than just a challenge to say the least. If you’ve been awaiting one for your collection, this is a very nice example in this offering.

The grip to this HJ remains in excellent condition. Both halves of the Bakelite plates are nicely checked, fit with precision, and tightly riveted to the spine. The same is true for the Hitler Youth diamond. It is in fantastic condition, countersunk in the recess, and void of any damage or hits. For one of these early HJ knives, the plating to the hilt has held up extremely well. The pommel shows just a bit of surface wear in the location of where the hanger hold down strap rode.

An excellent scabbard accompanies this knife. The period black enamel is extremely nice, showing at 95%. One rub mark on the tip of the reverse is basically it. Though the leather hanger has some surface wear from the time that a youngster carried this knife, it is basically sound throughout. With the hold down strap displaying most of that age.

Finally, a very desirable blade completes the description of this HJ knife. It remains full length, straight, void of any sharpening, tipping, or major scraps, hits, or cutting edge chips. Though the surface does exhibit the slightest bit of age, it is not nearly what 98% of these kids knives usually do. As shown in the photos a striking Blut und Ehre motto puts the icing on the cake for this edged weapon!  We don’t often get these knives in this condition, let alone even observe all that many like this example. Grab this one, you’ll be glad you did! SOLD
