Early Stormtroopers Dagger by Weyersberg – D987

This is a good solid nickel silver SA dagger, which comes in on the rarity chart right in the middle of the pack at a 6. Additionally, it has a screaming blade on it to say the least. Have a peek.

The grip to this Weyersberg SA is in very nice condition, being void of any splits, cracks, repairs, or missing wood. There are 7 small round pressure marks on the lower reverse where it looks like the owner needed to gently tap in a tack to perhaps hang a street poster at one time. Other than that, the handle remains in exceptionally nice shape. A beautifully toned nickel eagle has been perfectly set straight and flush to the center of the obverse. At the top of the front side the same can be said for the SA runes button. It has excellent silvering to the border and letters, as well as near perfect brown enamel. Both crossguards remain smooth to the touch, and look to have been lightly cleaned some time since the end of the war. The reverse of the lower guard is Gruppe stamped “P” for the Pommern northern district of Germany; a lesser seen SA Gruppe stamp in my opinion.

The scabbard to this dagger is pretty decent overall. It remains straight, void of any hits, splits, creases, or bends. The period anodizing is good on the obverse to include quite a bit of the original factory protective lacquer. Where as the reverse side shows a little more wear to the finish. Both upper and lower nickel fittings are solid to this shell, and properly held in place with 4 period screws. The upper fitting remains pretty much untouched, the lower exhibits some scratching and surface scars.

As for the blade, it’s about as nice as you would hope for. It is full length, straight, drawn to a needle point tip, void of any tipping, buffing, major pitting, or cutting edge chips. There is a little bit of surface oxidation at the reverse shoulder next to the crossguard where moisture had probably once been trapped. It’s not all the bad considering everything else this blade has going for it. Additionally, there is one little cutting edge imperfection directly atop of the letters “eu” in motto area. It is so small it couldn’t be shown by photos. An absolutely killer dark Alles fur Deutschland motto shown beautifully etched straight down the middle of the obverse. And lastly, a stunning crossgrain graces this beautiful blade from hilt to tip on both sides.

Truly a very nice early nickel silver SA dagger, in every sense of the word.      SOLD
