Early Storm Trooper’s Dagger by Schmidt – D872

This is a decent early SA in this offering, manufactured by the Carl Schmidt edged weapon firm. Though not a rare manufacture, this company still comes in at a 5 on the charts.

A nice dark brown handle starts out the hilt of this dagger in fine order. It has subtle dark lines grain lines running through it which project a beautiful striking contrast. The wood remains in fantastic condition, void of any splits, cracks, chips, or missing material. As a matter of fact, there isn’t even anything that would be considered to be a pressure mark on the surface. Both the eagle and SA runes button are in wonderful shape, and are as perfect a the wood itself. The upper and lower crossguards are clean and smooth, and project a light golden hue over their surfaces.

A decent scabbard accompanies this dress dagger. The shell is in very good condition, with but 2 extremely minor ding imperfections. The anodized surface has endured the test of time, with any excellent period finish rating 95%. Both upper and lower fittings have the same golden glow hue on their surfaces as the crossguards. And are in good shape with just a couple of minor taps. 4 period factory dome head screws hold the fittings secure to the shell.

We finish up with a nice blade on this Schmidt SA. It is full length, void of any tipping, buffing, or cutting edge chips. It does have a couple specks of surface age as shown, though not all that detracting. A nice fine line crossgrain is still present on both obverse and reverse, and an excellent dark Alles fur Deutschland motto can be seen etched straight down the front side of this blade. Finally, the little church logo of the Carl Schmidt is shown acid etched on the reverse ricasso.

A good example of an early nickel silver Nazi Storm Trooper’s dagger.  SOLD
