Early Storm Trooper’s Dagger by Sauer – D918

Though categized as common on the rarity list of SA daggers, the Suhl produced edged weapons are always right up there on the desirability chart. He’s a  nice one in this offering.

Typical for this manufacture, the course grain light colored wood which this grip was carved from is the most noted feature to the daggers produced in the Suhl district of Germany. The handle remains in very nice condition, being void of any splits, cracks, flakes, or missing wood. In the center of the obverse a nickel silver eagle has been expertly placed, and has taken on a nice surface patina over the years. At the top of the handle the SA runes button is also set flush and straight, though it has darkened a bit with surface oxidation. As a signature characteristic of this manufacture, the thin rocker shape lower crossguard is quite noticeable in the photos. Both it and the upper fitting are muted and dull in appearance, as nothing has been cleaned nor polished on this edged weapon since being returned as a souvenir from WWII.

The scabbard to this edged weapon remains straight, void of any hits, dings, creases, or splits. The anodized surface has held up decent, though displays an area of oxidation to the lower obverse, and a spot on the reverse. Both upper and lower fittings remain in good condition, and held tight to the shell with the proper factory dome head screws.

An excellent blade completes the description of this fine Sauer SA. It is full length, straight, void of any sharpening, pitting, or cutting edge chips. While the surface displays just a tiny bit of age, it is extremely minor at that. A beautiful crossgrain runs from crossguard to tip on both side. Additionally, a killer dark Alles fur Deutschland motto is shown etched straight down the obverse.

A very nice SA, by the desirable J.P. Sauer edged weapon firm.    SOLD
