Early Storm Trooper’s Dagger by Sauer – D914

Though the SA’s produced by the JP Sauer firm are listed fairly common on the rarity list, the condition of this one puts it in a different category. Have a peek.

A beautiful handle begins the description of the hilt of this fine looking SA dagger. It’s laden with light and dark grain throughout both sides, with the wood being in truly wonderful condition. Oh, I know some of you guys are going to say; “hey JR check the high shoulder fitment of the wood compared to the crossguards!” Yes, I know. And many seasoned collectors also know that this characteristic is very common with the Suhl manufactures of these edged weapons. That appearance is also accented by the thinner rocker shape lower crossguard that this firm chose to use for their hardware. With that said, the grip emblems are about as nice as you will encounter on one of these early political daggers. Both upper and lower crossguards are fairly smooth, and have taken on an undisturbed muted patina over their surfaces.

An excellent scabbard accompanies this dagger. It is straight, void of any major hits or dings, with just the faintest surface imperfection on the obverse, just above the lower fitting. So small in fact, it doesn’t even show up in the photos. A fantastic smooth brown anodizing covers both obverse and reverse, and rates 95%. Both upper and lower fittings are in excellent shape, and about as nice as you will see on one of these early nickel silver SA’s. The fittings are tight to the shell, and held solid by 4 untouched factory dome head screws.

Lastly the blade: It’s a screamer. No other description is necessary.
