Early SS Dagger by Pack – D673

Question: Why is it so hard to find a top end SS dagger for sale? Answer: Because for the most part they’re all in collections. That’s right, even at the large show venues there are very few top condition SS daggers available for sale. They are just not part of a dealer inventory, per se’. At times we see them when a collection is being sold off, but that’s about it. The E. Pack in this offering is pretty decent. On top of that, it’s a rather scarce maker compared to the other firms which produced 33’s early on. Take a look.

Ever so hard to find on any SS dagger is decent grip. Prone to splitting, cleaving, fractures, and chips, these brittle handles are rather fragile to say the least. But the one on this M33 is a beauty! Other than one little pressure mark on the obverse, and one micro hairliner above the SS runes, this grip is a perfect as you’re apt to find on any SS dagger. As a matter of fact, it rivals anything in my own personal collection. The high neck nickel silver eagle and SS runes button are the best. Void of any hits, wear spots, or scuffs, they set this handle off in a way that collectors dream of seeing. Both upper and lower crossguard are muted dull nickel with an undisturbed patina that remains uncleaned. The fittings have nice smooth surfaces both fore and aft, with the lower reverse stamped Roman numeral I. A fantastic grip, emblems, and hilt assembly on this Pack SS dagger.

This scabbard is an absolute killer! It remains straight, void of any bends, hits, dog legs, dings, or anything else. The excellent blue anodized finish is about as good as you apt to see, rating 99%. On top of that there is still 40% of the original factory protective lacquer clinging to this shell. That is about unheard of on any of these early sheaths. Both upper an lower fittings are in good shape, with the later showing just some very minor tapping on the obverse. 4 factory screws hold the fittings proper, and tightly in place. Finally, something that is never given away on one of these scabbards, an early snout nose SS hanger. This accoutrement is in excellent condition and worth well over $300. That is if you can even find one this nice. As proper for this vintage of dagger, the nickel silver clip is unmarked. An absolutely beautiful scabbard and hanger to this M33.

That brings us to the blade. Well, take a look at the photos and write your own description. A little bit of age on the reverse which has not been touched, is basically it. The rest is gorgeous.

Certainly good enough for my own personal collection. Grab this baby for yours!     SOLD
