Early SA Dagger by Pack – D814
As the title states, this is an introductory M33 Storm Trooper’s dagger manufactured during the 1934-36 timeframe. The grip is a decent example, displaying just light usage and pressure marks from the time that it was worn. With the exception of one superficial flake to the lower left obverse, the handle is void of any major cracks, missing chunks or unsightly imperfections. An excellent grip eagle and SA runes button have been expertly set flush and straight, into the medium contour obverse. The nickel crossguards are smooth, with the lower reverse stamped with the SA Gruppe mark “S”. They have been cleaned at some point over the last several years.
The scabbard to this SA remains straight, void of any dents, creases, or bends. The brown period anodizing though light in color a bit from wear, still display in average condition. Both the upper and lower nickel fittings are decent, and have a golden hue matching the hardware on the hilt. 4 period dome head screws hold the fittings secure and tight to the shell.
The blade to this SA is fairly nice. It remains full length, straight, void of any sharpening, tipping, or cutting edge chips. In light of some light surface oxidation in a few places, it’s not all that detracting. A beautiful dark and deep burnished Alles fur Deutschland motto is shown in the photos running straight down the obverse. Finally, the Siegfried wood chopper logo on the reverse proclaims the edged weapon firm well known to collectors of 3rd Reich blades, E. Pack & Sohn.
