Early SA Dagger by F. Herder – D946

Though the SA’s manufactured by the F.Herder edged weapon firm have a fairly common rating, my experience is that they are not all that often seen offered for sale. Here is a decent example for the money in this listing.

The grip on this SA is a dark chocolate brown throughout. It has the normal and typical light pressure marks, and that is basically it. The high neck eagle displays excellent detail, and is set straight as well as flush to the wood. Directly above it, the SA runes button is void of any enamel chipping, and firmly in place. As this is an early M33, the crossguards as expected are solid nickel. They remain in an unclean condition, smooth, with the lower reverse SA Gruppe stamped Om.

As we move to the scabbard, it too remains in good condition. It is straight, void of any dents, bends, or creases. The original anodized shell shows wear to the surface with some oxidation, fairly common to what we see with SA’s of this vintage. Both upper and lower nickel fittings are solid to the shell, and held in place by the proper dome head screws.

Finishing up with the blade it remains full length, drawn to a needle-sharp point, void of any sharpening, tipping, or buffing. There are a few spots on the surface areas and the typical runner marks; but all in all it’s a pretty decent blade. We always like to disclose everything so that customers are not taken by surprise by anything left out in the description. That said, there are a few very minor fingernail catchers along the cutting edges of this blade. So small in fact, the camera doesn’t pick them up. Like all the other components on this dagger, this blade remains untouched, and void of being polished nor cleaned. Finally, it has a excellent fine line crossgrain which is prominent down both sides of the blade, and an exceptional dark burnished Alles fur Deutschland motto etched straight down the center of the obverse. On the reverse riccasso is the large crossing keys trademark of the F. Herder edged weapon firm.

A nice solid early Storm Trooper’s dolch, in its entirety.   SOLD
