Early Rare Maker Army Officer’s Dagger by Luneschloss – D977

In this offering is a Heer officer’s dagger which was manufactured by the rather small firm of P.D. Luneschloss. This company purchased components from larger manufactures, finished them, and sold / distributed them under their own name. That is exactly what this edged weapon is.

A decent pumpkin orange slant grip begins the description of this 3rd Reich army officer’s dagger. For such a sought after pattern with collectors, the handle does have a couple surface fractures mainly to the reverse and lateral sides. I also noticed a chipped section that while separated and out of sight under the ferrule, the grip is still very much firmly set in place in spite of those challenges. All held tight by an excellent nickel silver crossguard, and desirable 14 leaf pommel.

Like the “generic B” crossguard, the scabbard to this dagger is also called “generic” too. And as mentioned, that was because several of the Heer dagger manufactures used similar components in the construction of their daggers as well. This scabbard remains straight, void of any bends, splits, hits, or creases. As with the hilt fittings, it has a nice muted silvered finish over it’s surface. Both scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. The throat is secured by a single reverse set screw.

And finally, the blade to this dagger remains full length, straight, void of any tipping, bends, or cutting edge chips. It is drawn to a needle sharp tip, that will put a hole clear through your skin if you’re not careful! While the surface does have some age spots here and there, some of it may come up if gently cleaned by the next owner. On the reverse is the helmet and sword logo of the Luneschloss edged weapon firm. This manufacture actually comes in at a 7 on the rarity list for Heer officer daggers.

Yes, it has some grip challenges. And if it didn’t…. it would be a lot more than this.      $650.00
