Early NSKK Dagger by Jacobs – D1102

In this listing is a rather obscure manufacture for NSKK / SA early daggers. C. Rud Jacobs edged weapon manufacture comes in at a 7 on the rarity list. And this is a decent solid example in this listing that has not been in a collection before.

A beautiful handle starts out the description of this early nickel NSKK dagger. It’s a nice thick chunk of wood, medium brown in color, and laden with light and dark grain. The wood remains in excellent condition, void of any splits, cracks, chips, or missing material. A beautiful toned high neck eagle has been perfectly set straight and flush to the obverse, just below the center line. Direct above it the same can be said for the SA runes button. Both solid nickel crossguards remain smooth, with a heavy uncleaned patina that has encrusted their surfaces.

An excellent scabbard to this edged weapon remains straight, void of any dings, hits, creases, splits, or bends. The period black enamel paint looks to be factory done, something that is rarely encountered on an early nickel silver NSKK. That paint remains strong at 95%. Both upper and lower hardware fittings are in fine shape, held securely in place, and have taken on the same patina as shown on the hilt components. Though the leather on the snout nose hanger is a little tired, it is complete, intact, to include the small slack loop.

Though not perfect, the blade like everything else on this edged weapon remain untouched. It is full length, straight, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, polishing, or cutting edged chips. There are some surface smudge marks here and there that are shown in the photos, though not all that terrible for an uncleaned edged weapon as such. On the reverse is the rather uncommon trade mark of this SA / NSKK dagger firm. That being the large J in the double oval trademark.

A nice dagger for the purist collector out there.    SOLD
