Early N/S Stormtrooper’s Dagger by Herder – D1035

An absolutely smooth dark brown grip begins the hilt description of this exceptional Herder SA dagger in fine order. The high contour handle remains in fantastic condition, void of any splits, cracks, flakes, chips, or repairs. A gorgeous nickel silver eagle is shown expertly set straight and flush just below the centerline on the obverse. The surface of the bird is virtually as perfect as the day that it was set in this grip. At the obverse top, the same can be said for the SA runes button. It projects nice silvering to the letters as well as the silver circle border, displaying a light patina over the surface. The brown enamel is fine as well, with just one very small tick to the inlay in the upper corner. Both upper and lower crossguards are as smooth to the touch, and fit the beautiful carved handle to a tee.

A fine scabbard accompanies this early SA dagger. The shell remains straight, void of any bumps, hits, bends, creases, or splits. The brown anodizing remains extremely strong over this shell, as does the period factory protective lacquer. The oxidation specks that you see in the photos are actually on top of the lacquer over this shell. And honestly, not nearly as detracting as the photos make them out to be. Both the upper and lower nickel fittings are securely in place, and held solid by 4 factory dome head screws. The lower chape exhibits a little misshaping from the time it was worn and carried.

Finally the blade to this fine looking SA, and it’s a beauty! Straight, full length, void of any sharpening, tipping, cutting edge chips…it just doesn’t get any better! With a bright factory surface that is graced with a fine line crossgrain, this blade is absolutely textbook for this edged weapon manufacture. Even the medium gray burnishing of the Alles fur Deutschland motto is exactly what we see with the SA’s produced by this firm. Truly and exceptional blade in it’s entirely, all the way from crossguard to tip.

I’m out of room in my display case, or I would be stashing this SA without a doubt. Comes with high marks and recommended. SOLD
