Early M33 SS Dagger by Boker – D1164
Certainly, one of the most desirable manufactures of the introductory model 33 SS daggers are those which came out of the Heinrich Boker edged weapon firm. A company which still is in business today. Here’s an untouched example in this offering.
Without a doubt, some of the allure to Bokers aside from the dark motto etched blades, is the fantastic grips which these early political daggers were equip with. And not to disappoint, the grip to this M33 remains in very good condition. Oh, it has the typical light pressure marks of where it was worn with the original vertical hanger frozen in time, as well as a couple of minor hairlines near the runes. But that aside remains structurally sound, void of any major distractions, or repairs. The upward beak eagle displays wonderful detail, and with an attractive patina over its surface. Straight above it on the obverse the SS runes button too has endured the test of nearly a century in fine condition. As for the hilt hardware, it is shown with a thick undisturbed patina, as nothing has been cleaned on this edged weapon since being returned home as a souvenir from WWII.
The scabbard to this Boker SS remains like all of the other components on this edged weapon, virtually untouched. The shell is straight, void of any hits, dings, splits, or creases. While the chemical bluing has dulled over time, it still projects an excellent surface coverage. Typical for many of these SS scabbards, especially those most likely worn often, the bottom chape ball has taken a hit which flattened it to a degree. That aside, both upper and lower fitting remains tight to the shell and held in place by the original factory dome head screws. Finally, wrapped around the upper part of the scabbard is the original custom made vertical marching hanger which help to stabilize these edged weapons while it’s owner marched in formation.
We finish up with the blade. It remains straight, full length, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, or cutting edged chips. The surface exhibits some staining from years of being housed in the scabbard, virtually untouched by all accounts. That aside, a nice dark Meine Ehre heist Treue motto is shown beautifully etched straight down the obverse of this blade. A characteristic of what collectors so love about this edged weapon firm.
A solid untouched M33, Boker SS dagger. SOLD
