Early Kriegsmarine Dagger by Weyersberg – D1046

As the title points to, this is a very early all brass navy officer’s dirk being offered in this listing. The Trolon over wood handle in in excellent condition, void of any cracks, splits, chips, or missing material. Tightly wrapped around the circumference is the typical double strand wire which these navy daggers are usually seen with. The crossguard is heavy brass composition, displaying beautiful sculptured detail. The same goes for the eagle pommel.  And the reason being, is that it is the 1938 replacement component in which the relief and detail is exquisite, as most 3rd Reich daggers collectors are aware of. Though the crossguard exhibits a little play like most Kriegs hilts do, the grip is super tight as is the pommel, with the later nicely facing the proper outward direction.

The scabbard to this dagger remains in pretty decent condition. It has a little bit misshaping inherent to these brass soft shell sheaths, though not all that terrible per se. A dark rich rainbow patina covers it’s surface, both fore and aft. The scabbard bands are in place, though the top one shows some misshaping. Both scabbard rings are present, and the throat is held solid by 2 flat head screws.

Finally, the beautiful plated blade remains fairly straight, with just the very slightest of a bow toward the tip. It’s honesty not all that bad, as most sellers wouldn’t even mention such a slight imperfection. A gorgeous double etched fouled anchor and sea life plants panels grace both sides of this full length blade.

A nice early dagger spanning the 12 years of the 3rd Reich, from Reichmarine to Kriegsmarine.       SOLD
